The story behind the piece…
Seaweed celebrates one of the most overlooked details of the Cornish coastline.
Inspired by the intricate shapes, textures and movement of seaweed washed ashore after the tide, the piece explores the quiet beauty that so often goes unnoticed. Layered with acrylic, paper and natural texture, it reflects the way the sea leaves behind small reminders of where it has been.
Hidden within the painting are handwritten lines of poetry inspired by those coastal walks, preserving the words beneath the layers of paint.
Like all of my original artwork, Seaweed began as a journal entry before becoming paint on a board.
It is currently hanging in my Cornwall studio and is waiting to find the right home. 🤍
