The story behind the piece…
Dreaming captures one of those rare moments when the landscape feels almost unreal.
Unlike many of my paintings, which are rooted in blues and sea greens, this piece introduces soft pink undertones inspired by the way the evening light caught the coastline as I was writing one of the poems that would later become part of Hot Water Bottle.
The subtle shift in colour creates a dreamlike quality, sitting somewhere between memory and reality. It reflects those fleeting moments when a familiar place suddenly feels completely new, simply because of the way the light touches it.
Like all of my original artwork, Dreaming began as words in a journal before becoming paint on a board.
It is currently hanging in my Cornwall studio and is waiting to find the right home. 🤍
