Come and See Me At Cornwall Open Studios 2026
If you’re looking for interesting things to do in Cornwall this spring, why not come and have a cup of coffee with a local artist (me!) and have a peek behind the scenes of my process?
Cornwall Open Studios is an annual, county-wide celebration of creativity and local art in which artists and makers across Cornwall open the doors to their private studios and creative spaces.
Over the May Bank Holiday and the following long weekend (23-31 May), I’ll be welcoming visitors into my studio space to explore my latest work, enjoy a tea or coffee and experience the creative process behind my paintings and poetry.
Whether you’ve followed my work for a while or are simply exploring things to do in Cornwall, Open Studios is a wonderful opportunity to discover local artists in a much more personal and meaningful way.
What is Cornwall Open Studios?
Cornwall Open Studios is an annual event that invites the public behind the scenes of Cornwall’s creative community. Across the county, artists, craftspeople and makers open their studios, homes and workspaces to visitors, creating a rare chance to experience art in the places where it’s actually made.
From painters and ceramicists to jewellers, printmakers and mixed media artists, the event showcases the incredible depth of creativity that exists across Cornwall.
For me, art has always been deeply connected to place – particularly the coastline, weather and shifting atmosphere of Cornwall. Much of my work begins outdoors, gathering fragments of poetry, textures and moments of observation that later evolve into abstract mixed media paintings and written pieces.
One of the things I love most about Cornwall Open Studios is the opportunity for genuine connection.
So much of modern life happens online, but Open Studios creates space for slower conversations – moments where people can ask questions, experience artwork up close, and connect with the stories and inspirations behind the work.
There’s also something incredibly special about seeing the environments artists create in. Studios hold traces of process, experimentation and unfinished ideas, and I think that openness can make art feel far more accessible and human.
Visiting my studio
During Cornwall Open Studios 2026, I’ll be sharing:
Seascape-inspired abstract mixed media paintings
Original poetry and hidden written fragments within artworks
Sketchbooks, materials and behind-the-scenes process work
Insights into how nature influences my creative practice
My work often explores themes of reflection, memory, ritual and the emotional landscapes we carry within us. I’m especially interested in the quieter moments we often overlook; the colours, textures and feelings that shape our everyday experiences.
Visitors will be able to see how these ideas develop from handwritten fragments and outdoor observations into finished artworks layered with paint, texture and poetry.
I always want my studio to feel welcoming and relaxed, so whether you’d like to chat about creativity, quietly explore the work, or simply take a pause with a cup of tea, you’ll be very welcome.
See behind the scenes of my process…
Warning: I get messy, but you don’t have to!
